Create a Wardrobe of ‘Quiet Luxury’

By Michelle Beck, Owner, Purple Clover Boutique

What is “quiet luxury,” and how do you obtain it in your wardrobe?

A recent talking point in the fashion industry and lifestyle publications has been the topic of quiet luxury and how to achieve it. The look of quiet luxury is timeless and minimalistic.

Here are tips on achieving this look:

1. Most importantly, have properly fitted clothing for your body type. Jeans are a great example of this. Right now there are endless fits. The flare jean, the skinny jean, the boyfriend, the wide leg; the list can go on and on.

The key is to find the size and the style that works for your body type. It can be tempting to go with the latest trend, but once you find the style that works for you, stay with it, and consider purchasing multiple pairs. You always want to have the style that you love.

2. Choose neutral colors. Even if bright colors are currently in style, quiet luxury items are always in neutral colors. Choose black, navy or beige.

Fabric is also important. Cashmere is the ultimate luxury fabric and is available in many different weights. Long associated with cooler temperatures, lightweight cashmere is now available and is perfect in a summer wrap or sweater.

3. Always carry the perfect handbag. It can be any size, but a classic structured one is preferred.

Brown or black leather without a flashy logo is always the right choice. Understated is the key here to this look. Nothing blingy is allowed with this style.

4. Different metals may come in and out of style, but you simply can’t go wrong with gold accessories. A pair of gold hoop earrings, a gold chain link necklace and a few gold stacked bracelets will elevate any look.

What is the best part of the quiet luxury look?

You will have truly timeless pieces. Instead of following trends you will have a look all your own. Evaluate your wardrobe and check with your favorite boutique or department store to help you find what you need. Quiet luxury pieces are always available.
