These US Airport Lounges are a Cut Above

If you think of airport lounges, you might imagine outdated furniture and cheap wine. Luckily, those days are ending and the airport lounge scene is getting better and better.

Getting in may mean you must be traveling on a specific airline, so do your research first.

Here are a few of the top airport lounges in the U.S.

Delta Sky Club, John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) — New York

There are two locations at JFK; one at Terminal 2 and another at Terminal 4. The Club features an expansive layout with modern, comfortable furniture. The outdoor Sky Deck has an impressive runway view.

The Club has the requisite amenities like Wi-Fi, televisions, printers/copiers and personal flight assistance. Complimentary beverages from the bar, snacks and meals are provided.

At Terminal 4, showers also are offered.

Capital One Lounge, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) — Texas

The Capital One Lounge DFW is a treat. Nicely decorated and a great food and drink selection (including grab & go food and cold brew). Find it at Terminal D at gate D22.

American Airlines Flagship Lounge, Miami International Airport (MIA) — Florida

Located in the North Terminal Concourse D. Find chef-inspired meals partnered with the James Beard Foundation and amenities including Wi-Fi, cocktail bar, wine table and shower suites. To enter, you must have a first or business-class boarding pass and a be qualifying member. Check before visiting.

American Express Centurion Lounge Houston, George Bush International Airport (IAH) — Texas

Located in Terminal D, amenities include dedicated work areas, health and wellness space, Wi-Fi, newspapers, print/fax/copy services and flight assistance. Complimentary access to the lounge is offered to qualifying card members so check before visiting.

Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse, JFK — New York

The Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse JFK has a fun vibe with modern décor offering great views, conversation areas as well as quiet areas to rest or get some work done. This lounge is a real luxury — if you can access it. Check ahead before visiting because access changes throughout the day. You can find it in Terminal 4.

American Express Centurion Lounge Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport (LAS) — Nevada

This lounge’s simple design is complemented by pops of bright colors. For privacy, seek out the private phone and conference rooms or partitioned seating and workspace areas. Also includes a family room, TVs, Wi-Fi, printers and copiers. Check out the Vegas-inspired cocktails and wines at the bar. The lounge is in Concourse D. Check before visiting to confirm entry requirements.
